Human papillomavirus (HPV) Cancer Prevention

Prevalence of HPV in the United States

HPV is the most common sexual transmitted infection in the United
States. In the United States approximately 20-million people are
currently infected with HPV. About 6.2 million Americans will get
infected with genital HPV this year. According to the National Cervical
Cancer Coalition (NCCC) 11% of American women do not have regular
cervical cancer screenings. Women who do not have cervical cancer
screenings on a regular basis dramatically increase their chances of
developing cervical cancer. About 14,000 women in the United States are
diagnosed with cervical cancer disease each year and more than 3,900
women die in the United States each year from this disease. According
to The Journal of the American Medical Association (Dunne, Eileen F. et
al, 2007) the prevalence of HPV infection among females in the United
States is as follows;

  • 24.5% prevalence of HPV among females 14 to 19 years old
  • 44.8% prevalence of HPV among females 20 to 24 years old
  • 27.4% prevalence of HPV among females 25 to 29 years old
  • 27.5% prevalence of HPV among females 30 to 39 years old
  • 25.2% prevalence of HPV among females 40 to 49 years old
  • 19.6% prevalence of HPV among females 50 to 59 years old

The change of cells from

benign to malignant (progressivly getting worce) getting or behavior is called malignant transformation. This diagnosis is made by pathologicmedical history
examination, can find that there have been changes in size or patient
sensation and, upon direct examination, that there has been a change in
the lesion itself.

Several types of HPV, particularly type 16, have been found to be
associated with oropharyngeal squamous-cell carcinoma, a form of throat
cancer. [17]

Genome organization of human papillomavirus type 16, one of the
subtypes known to cause cervical cancer.

A history of infection with one or more high-risk HPV types is
believed to be a prerequisite for the development of cervical cancer
(the vast majority of HPV infections are not high risk); according to
the American Cancer Society,
women with no history of the virus do not develop this type of cancer.
However, most HPV infections are cleared rapidly by the immune system
and do not progress to cervical cancer. Because the process of
transforming normal cervical cells into cancerous ones is slow, cancer
occurs in people who have been infected with HPV for a long time,
usually over a decade or more.

Sexually transmitted HPVs also cause a major fraction of anal cancers
and approximately 25% of cancers of the mouth and upper throat (known
as the oropharynx) (see figure). The latter commonly present in the
tonsil area and HPV is linked to the increase in oral cancers in
non-smokers. Engaging in anal sex or oral sex with an HPV-infected partner may increase the risk of developing these types of cancers.

Men
most often have two types of questions or concerns when they first hear
about HPV: What are their own risks from HPV, and how can they help
protect their partners?

Additional information on HPV and men can be obtained from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: CDC fact sheet.

  2. How common is HPV in men?
  3. What are the symptoms of the HPV virus?

  7. What can you do to protect yourself, and your partner?

Do men get HPV?

Yes, men get HPV in the same way women do, through intimate
(genital) skin-to-skin contact - usually through sexual intercourse
(vaginal or anal). However, HPV rarely causes serious health problems
in men, particularly in those who have healthy immune systems.

How common is HPV in men?

HPV is very common in both men and women. It's difficult to
develop specific estimates for men, since large studies among males
have not been done in the United States, and an FDA-approved HPV test
for men is not available. However, the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention estimates that more than half of American men will get HPV
at some point in their lives.

What are the symptoms of the HPV virus?

What are the symptoms of the HPV virus?

What are the symptoms of the HPV virus?

The HPV virus usually does not produce any
symptoms. Even if the virus causes changes in skin cells, they are
often so minor they are not noticeable (and are not of concern). When
the HPV virus does cause noticeable changes, the most common result is genital warts
– typically appearing around the anus or on the penis, scrotum
(testicles), groin or thighs. These warts can vary in appearance from
small, flaky patches to pronounced, raised growths. Genital warts are
not serious and can be treated, although they may re-appear if the
body's immune system has not fully suppressed the HPV virus. Rarely,
"high-risk" types of HPV can cause certain types of cancer, such as
cancer of the penis or anus (with the latter usually occurring in gay,
bisexual or HIV-positive men).

Another Inmate stabbed at Jessup prison unit 'JPRU"

Jessup Prison

Pre Release Unit at that. In most cases P.R is the last stop before a long awaited return back into society.

As I always said of the prison system that in 90 percent of violent occurences inmates are warehoused until the release date arrives.

Im almost glad that the incident did take place while the inmate is still in custody.

With that said. A incident would have happened post the release, rest assure that at least there will be no innocent individule going to be affected. A few more years will be tacked on to his already sentence.

Mike Dietrich on a come back fight. Repping Baltimore May 11,2007

Mike Dietrich Fight Record Bio 8-W / 0-L

My Baltimore Neighborhood hommie will not let the stabbing incident hold him down. Last year Mike was stabbed 5 times. The Dr. was not sure if Mike was ever going to fight again.

.Dietrich did well as an amateur, and his first pro fight, in 2004,
ended in a knockout, as did two of his others. On Dec. 7, 2005, he
knocked down Mike Van Meer, a heavyweight from Urbandale, Iowa, in just
under three minutes. Less than a week later everything changed.

Gas Prices Hit A Record High In Maryland Monday

Gas prices are really ridiculous," one driver said

Marylanders are paying around $3 a gallon for gas today and just pennies less feels like a bargain.

"They're disgruntled," said an AAA employee.

The average price for a gallon of regular is $3 in Maryland, 32nd highest in the nation, and up 84 cents since January 9.

According
to AAA, we hit an all-time national high Monday of $3.07 a gallon. If
you ask why, you hear about inventory and demand. You also hear about
big oil profits.

The national average could go even higher. It's summer. Here comes the sun and there go the profits.

The last time Marylanders averaged $3 a gallon was in August of last year.

WEIRD FOOLISH AND TALENTED

Miguel Cotto V/S Zab Judah

Which
fight will end up being the 2007 Fight Of The Year ? Well it hasn't
happened yet but I will be surprised if the upcoming Miguel Cotto -
Zab Judah contest isn't high on the list at the end of the year. On
paper, this is a dream match up. Boxer / puncher - vs - slugger. What
a fight this could be. I can't wait... June 9th at Madison Square
Garden. Damn, get me a ticket !!!

Cotto is undefeated but he has been in against tough guys like John
Brown, Cesar Bazan, Carlos Maussa, Victoriano Sosa and Lovemore N'
Dou. If you doubt his heart, watch his life and death struggle with
hard punching Ricardo Torres.

Judah has all the tools but when it comes to crunch time he just
seems to fall short. This fight will be no exception. He will battle
Cotto tooth and nail but in the end Zab will fall shot and Cotto will
prevail and move on. It's just in the cards...

Gangsta rap artist "The Game" arrested in alleged criminal threat

The image “http://www.thehiphopworld.com/image-files/the-game-picture.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.Los Angeles police arrested the rap artist known as The Game at his
Glendale home Friday on suspicion of making criminal threats during a
pickup basketball game in February at a park in South Los Angeles. The
artist, born Jayceon Terrell Taylor, 27, is suspected of pulling
"out a gun and us[ing] it to threaten another person on the court," an
LAPD source said Saturday.
Taylor posted $50,000 bail about 2 a.m. Saturday and was released from
the LAPD's 77th Street Division jail.

Officer Monica Garcia said investigators searched Taylor's nearly 5,000-square-foot home in northwest Glendale for three hours.

Taylor's debut album, "The Documentary," produced by rap legend Dr.
Dre, sold in excess of 2.4 million copies — a multi- platinum
seller — and made him a superstar in 2005.

In 2001, while dealing drugs, he was shot multiple times when a group
of "clowns" broke into his house, Taylor told The Times in a November
2006 interview.

"They thought they had killed me," Taylor said. "I crawled to the
bathroom and looked in the mirror. My wife-beater [shirt] was all red.
I pulled it back and blood squirted on the glass."

The Game also distributed a controversial DVD, "Stop Snitchin, Stop
Lyin," portraying him and his associates traveling to a house in
Connecticut they said belonged to 50 Cent. On the DVD, they lurked in
the underbrush, then slipped onto the backyard basketball court. While
attempting a slam-dunk, Taylor snapped the basketball hoop's

Liko Kenney shot Cpl. Bruce McKay four times
and ran over him after a traffic stop Friday evening, state Attorney
General Kelly Ayotte said. Gregory Floyd, who was driving by with his
son, grabbed McKay's gun and shot Kenney when he refused to put his gun
down, Ayotte said.

The 24-year-old Kenney was
convicted of assaulting McKay and resisting arrest in 2003. Ayotte had
no other details of that previous incident between the men, and
rejected suggestions the officer should have let someone else handle
the traffic stop given his history with the driver.

Officials
said McKay pulled Kenney over for speeding on Route 116. Kenney took
off, and McKay pursued him for about 1 1/2 miles before pulling in
front of Kenney's car and pushing it off the road.

The
officer used pepper spray on Kenney and his passenger and then turned
around and was shot, Ayotte said Saturday at a news conference in
Concord. Soon after, Floyd arrived and confronted Kenney while his son
called for help using the officer's radio. Authorities said Floyd was
justified in shooting Kenney.

The 48-year-old McKay was a 12-year veteran of the Franconia Police Department.

"It really tears at the fabric of the community and the fabric of the state," said Gov. John Lynch, who visited the town of about 900 residents Saturday as people paid their respects and brought flowers to a police station.

Bode Miller's father, Woody Miller, said there was a history of animosity between the officer and his nephew.

"They
had a long relationship," said Miller, who operates an international
tennis camp in nearby Easton. "There's been physical altercations
between them before in the course of being arrested."

Miller
said Kenney, who lived next door to him, didn't have a steady job, but
often took work cutting firewood and picking fiddlehead ferns, a wild
green that grows in the region and is considered a delicacy.

Bode
Miller, who once bailed his cousin out of jail, was on his way home to
Franconia, his father said. Miller was in Park City, Utah, this week,
meeting with officials of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association. At
that meeting, the former Olympic medalist told officials he was cutting
his ties with the U.S. team.

authorities said, and within hours police were warning officers to watch for possible gang retaliation

Early Thursday in South Baltimore, Brooklyn. a man who had been thrown out of Club Mate and Lounge by security guards, went to his car and retrieved a handgun, police said. He was shot by one officer after he fought with another officer and pulled out a gun, police said.

The dead man was identified as Daquan "Gotti" Moore, 25, of the 2700 block of W. North Ave. Matt Jablow, a police spokesman, said detectives believe he was a member of a local Bloods set. The Bloods, a notorious gang that originated in California, has made inroads into Baltimore in recent years

Truck Driving from Atlanta desting for New York Was found to be trafficing 180 pounds of high grade Marijuana.

Balt. Co., Maryland Transportation Authority gets 100 percent credibility for the large bust.

Having had many  other side of the fence friends who personally had run-in's with Baltimore City  an Baltimore County Police Officers. Stanley Nolan just to mention one, Who has recently been fired from Baltimore City Task Force after physically beating his wife to a pulp. Among many other incidents.

Anywho, With the above mentioned I could ponder a officer or three would have possible pocket'd what ever cash that was on the suspects, If not even tossing a bag or two of green sticky icky high times BUD.

Both suspects are still sleeping the cold steel bench at the precinct enjoying cold black coffee, hash brown, egg/boloney sandwhich from McDonalds.

If either of the two had enough money to post the 1,000,000 (million) bond I'm sure between the both of them they would have put enough money together to pay a trafficker to deliver the large amount of Marijuana to New York City.

On Wednesday the Maryland Transportation Authority Police arrested two

Georgia residents after a routine traffic stop revealed nearly 180

pounds of marijuana in the bed of their rented 2007 Dodge Dakota pickup

truck.

At approximately 9:45 a.m., an MdTA Police Officer

stopped Marsenna Louise Jenkins, 37, of Stone Mountain, Ga. for

speeding on north bound I-95 in Baltimore County.

The drugs were discovered during a probable cause search of the vehicle.

Police

charged Jenkins and passenger, Shelvin White, 42, of Atlanta, with

possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to

distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute-large

amount, and importation of marijuana into the state.

Each subject is being held on $1,000,000 bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

Jenkins also was charged with exceeding the posted speed limit and driving in violation of a rental car agreement.

“We

are training more of our officers on this type of drug interdiction on

our highways,” said MdTA Police Chief Marcus L. Brown. “My

officers did a fantastic job taking this marijuana off the street

today”.

The drugs, destined for New York City, are considered high quality and were purchased in Atlanta, Ga.

Woman, 35, fatally knifed; husband held. (Brooklyn Park,Md)

Lesa Lynn Thamby grew up on Ballman Court in Brooklyn Park, and when
the house next door to her childhood home was for sale, she snatched it
up. She raised her three children there and operated a small day care
business.

Yesterday,
longtime neighbors, who said Thamby always had a kind word and a smile,
were reeling as word spread that the 35-year-old had been fatally
stabbed and police had arrested her husband.

"She was a very beautiful, very sweet young lady who would do anything
for anyone," said Maria Wertz, a neighbor and friend. "This is a loss
of a good person, a good friend."

Police were called to Ballman Court just after midnight yesterday
morning after a report of a stabbing. Inside the home, they found
Thamby suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead en
route to a local hospital early yesterday.

Soman Narayanan Thamby, 50, was arrested and charged with second-degree
murder, police said. Few other details about the incident were released.

Cheryl Snyder, who lives next door in the neighborhood of brick
rowhouses, said she had heard arguing earlier Friday evening and was
awakened later by police sirens and a helicopter overhead. She said
such arguments were not typical.

Court records, however, show that Lesa Thamby had sought a protective
order against her husband in Anne Arundel County District Court less
than two months ago. The domestic violence case was dismissed in April
when she failed to appear in court.

Wertz also grew up on Ballman Court and bought a home just a few doors
down from her parents. There are two types of residents on the street,
she said -- those who rent and those who have lived there most of their
lives.

The neighborhood "takes care of itself most of the time," she said.

Lisa Thamby was well regarded in the tight-knit community, neighbors
said. She was friendly, and she diligently maintained her front lawn,
which is separated from her mother's home by a low chain link fence.
Toys, a faux wishing well and a porch swing also distinguished the
Thambys' yard from their neighbors.

"It's sad around here today," said Rose Hebb, 65, as she sat on her front porch next door.

Neighbors knew less about Soman Thamby, describing him as a hard worker who held multiple jobs.

A girl who answered the door at the home of Lesa Thamby's mother said
the woman was too distraught to comment. Thamby's three children -- one
of whom is 2 years old -- were being cared for by relatives, Wertz said.

Lexus LS600hl features the new Driver Monitor System

Another safety
feature added to the Lexus cap is the Driver Monitor System. The system
includes a face detection camera, mounted on the top of the steering
wheel. The camera is fixed on the steering column and it keeps an eye
on you while you drive. The moment it senses that you have been
distracted and not looking at the road ahead for longer than necessary,
and if there is an obstacle detected ahead, it then alerts you first
with a warning sound and a flashing light. As the car heads towards the
obstacle, the APCS begins to gently apply the brakes on its own.

To lend you a hand in negotiating around the obstacle, the system
reprograms the steering ratio, amplifying the intensity and quickness
of the steering response. At the same time the system automatically
retracts the front seatbelts and prepares the brake system to apply
with full force should you press on it. Thus saving you from a possible
impact. This safety feature is available in the Lexus LS600hl.

Cruising the Internet at 70 MPH (Technically Speaking)

Soon you'll be able to surf the Web, download music, and check e-mail in your car.

As regular readers of this column are aware, I can't go on vacation or to the grocery store without my Internet fix. So naturally, I crave a constant high-speed connection for my car so that I can download MP3s as I roll down I-40 (a robotic chauffeur would be nice, too).

The good news is that the Internet is coming to automobiles later this year. And when it arrives, it will start to change how we interact with each other and the world around us.

Life Is a Highway

2007 will be the year cars and tech really mesh, thanks in part to Ford's Sync, a hands-free cell phone gizmo running on Microsoft's Auto operating system. It also lets you control your MP3 player using voice commands. Sync will be available on about a dozen 2007 car models in the fall, and, yes, it even works with iPods.

But this is only the beginning, says Velle Kolde, product manager for Microsoft's in-vehicle systems. Future versions of Sync could incorporate Wi-Fi, so you could download your e-mail while driving through a Net cloud and then have the system read it to you.

Autonet Mobile, meanwhile, wants to turn your car into a rolling hotspot. Autonet's book-size router plugs into your cigarette lighter and connects to the same kind of high-speed cell networks used by wireless PC Cards, while broadcasting a secure 802.11g network in your car (and a little beyond).

Autonet has two big advantages over wireless cards, according to the company's CEO, Sterling Prantz. It is better at managing handoffs when you move from fast networks to slower ones, allowing for seamless data streaming. And everyone can share one connection, so Mom can watch YouTube on her laptop while Sis IMs her posse and Junior plays multiplayer games on his PSP--assuming, of course, that you're hooked into a fast EvDO Rev A network. By the time you read this, cars with Autonet inside should be available at select Avis Rent A Car locations; late this spring you'll be able to buy the router for $399, plus $50 a month for access to Autonet's network.

Moving Targets

If you want broadband built into your car, you'll have to wait a bit longer, says Bob Schoenfield, senior vice president for Aeris, a company that runs a communications network for telematic services. Aeris is working with a "non-U.S. car company" on a 2008-model automobile that can download data at up to 2 megabits per second. As today's fastest cellular networks get even faster, we will see a tsunami of mobile content, from movies and music to live broadcasts.

Moreover, as Internet Protocol version 6 becomes more common, cars could be used to gather data about the weather, traffic patterns, and more, says Tom Patterson, CEO of Command Information, a consultancy that specializes in IPv6. The firm has built the "Veesix," a 1970s-era Porsche designed to show off IPv6's automotive potential.

Because IPv6 allows for trillions of new IP addresses, your speedometer and windshield wipers could have their own addresses, enabling them to broadcast data to a server that aggregates the information and feeds back real-time weather and traffic reports.

IPv6 also lets devices communicate automatically. So if another car were approaching a blind intersection at high speed, your car could detect it and sound an alarm.

IPv6 is being built into cars in Europe and Japan, and car area networks that connect all of the devices inside your ride should start appearing in 2009. Important questions remain, of course--like whether you'll have to share your driving data with the police or your insurance company, or what happens when you send an angry text message to the Hummer driver who just cut you off.

But the potential is awesome. I'd take the Veesix in a heartbeat--and a designated driver when I just have to surf.
